Savoy Engineering Group is always interested in working with experienced WrightSoft residential HVAC designers!
Because of the fluctuation in workload, we DO NOT offer full-time employment opportunities. Instead, we outsource projects on an “as-needed” basis depending on the designer’s skill level and the projects in-house.
· Most of our HVAC designers earn 5-75 hours per month
· Each project pays a certain # of hours. For example, a home that is 2,000-3,500 sq ft pays 2.0 hours for the Manual J & S and 2.0 hours for the Manual D design for a total of 4.0 hours
· We issue a 1099-MISC to both the designer and the IRS at the end of the year. It is the HVAC designers responsibility to report and pay taxes on any monies earned
· We pay:
o $7.50-$10 per hour for beginner HVAC designers (basic WrightSoft knowledge and can perform straight-forward Manual J, S & D designs
o $12.50-$20 per hour for intermediate HVAC designers (very familiar with WrightSoft and can perform more advanced designs)
o $22.50-$30 per hour for advanced HVAC designers (thorough understanding of WrightSoft and can perform a Manual J, S & D on any set of plans regardless of unusual criteria)
To be considered as a WrightSoft HVAC Design Consultant, we ask you to perform the Manual J, S & D HVAC Designer EXAM below (click on image below to open exam as a pdf in a new page). Perform the below tasks:
· An ACCA certified Manual J load analysis
o Utilize the most current version of WrightSoft
o Basement is unconditioned
· A Manual S HVAC equipment selection utilizing:
o Appropriate Energy Star sized Goodman SSX & CAPF AC combination
o Appropriate Energy Star sized Goodman GMVC with AFUE 95+
· A Manual D duct design (conventional, not SDHV) utilizing:
o Floor registers: 10”x4” and 10”x6” and 12”x8” as appropriate for each room
o Sheet metal main plenum
o Flex metal branches

The Manual J, S & D HVAC Designer Exam lets us know your WrightSoft design skill where as your resume cannot demonstrate this to us. That is why we request this exam to be completed to the best of your ability. Then we can assess if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced WrightSoft HVAC designer.
We consider this project to be of “Intermediate Level” and should take 4.0 hours or less to complete.
